Bird Control and Bird Proofing in East Sussex

Bird Control Across East Sussex

East Sussex has two quite different bird problems. On the coast, from Newhaven to Rye, herring gulls nest on rooftops every spring. Inland, in towns such as Lewes, Uckfield and Crowborough, pigeons are the bigger nuisance. JR Bird Management provides bird control across East Sussex for both, at homes and businesses alike.

Our East Sussex work runs along the coast from Brighton and Hove to Newhaven, Seaford, Eastbourne, Bexhill, Hastings and Rye, and inland to Lewes, Uckfield, Hailsham and Crowborough. There are dedicated pages for Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings.

Away from the sea, the county is mostly villages and market towns under the South Downs and in the High Weald, where old buildings and chimneys attract pigeons and starlings. On the coast, seafront homes and blocks of flats in Seaford, Newhaven and Bexhill face the gulls.

Seagull Spike Installation in East Sussex

Gulls are part of seaside life in East Sussex, and many nest on chimney stacks, ridge tiles and flat roofs. The noise and mess can carry on from spring until late summer, and nesting gulls will swoop at people who come too close. Seagull spike installation on the places they land and nest is often the simplest way to stop them returning.

We use spikes made for larger birds, fixed firmly enough to stand up to strong winds off the Channel. For larger flat roofs we will also look at whether netting would give a better result.

Ledge Protection in East Sussex

Flint walls, brick parapets and painted sills are all common in the county's towns and villages. Each needs a different fixing, so we choose spikes, wire or gel to suit the surface as well as the bird.

Bird Control in East Sussex Market Towns

Away from the coast, towns such as Lewes, Uckfield and Crowborough have high streets of older buildings where pigeons sit on ledges, signs and chimneys. Spikes, wire and netting work as well on a period shopfront as on a modern unit, and we choose whichever suits the building.

Solar Panel Bird Protection in East Sussex

The sunny south coast has plenty of homes and businesses with solar panels, and pigeons are quick to nest in the sheltered gap underneath. Nesting material and droppings can damage cables and make the panels less efficient.

Our solar panel bird protection in East Sussex fits mesh around the edges of the array to close that gap, so pigeons cannot get underneath. Birds are kept out without being harmed, and the panels keep working as they should.
